Fertile Ground 2018

This year we are working with PDX Playwrights and Literary Arts to present as many new plays as possible as part of NWTW Fertile Ground Staged Readings.

NWTW Playwrights at Fertile Ground

Playwrights Brad Bolchunos (left) and Gary Corbin (right) are joining NWTW to co-present their next plays in January 2018 at Portland’s Fertile Ground Festival of New Works.

Playwright Brad Bolchunos

Spellbinders, by Brad Bolchunos, explores hypnotism, espionage, and the frontiers of innovation in 1920s Russia.

Playwright Gary Corbin

Gary Corbin’s Voodoo Snowball is a poignant comedy about cancer, healing, family dysfunction, and voodoo.

Presented in association with PDX Playwrights, the twin readings are set for January 23 and 25 at Literary Arts and January 26 at Hipbone Studio. Look to our next newsletter and the Fertile Ground December catalog for tickets and times.

Daisy Dukes Shorts Night

PDX Playwrights presents its fourth annual “Daisy Dukes Shorts Night” on Friday, January 26, at Hipbone Studios, 1847 E. Burnside St. in Portland. Daisy Dukes features eight ten-minute plays by seven different playwrights selected in a juried process and performed by an ensemble cast directed by Julie Akers. It’s a night of theatre you won’t want to miss!

Crazy Dukes Instant Play Festival

Back by popular demand, PDX Playwrights will present six short plays they’re going to write, rehearse, and produce – off-book – in 48 hours!

Besides “Daisy” and “Crazy,” PDXP will present twelve additional productions featuring short and full length staged readings, including Spellbinders and Voodoo Snowball, during Fertile Ground.  Show times are tentatively Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 and 9 PM and Sundays at 12, 2, 5, and 7 PM.

Stay tuned for updated listings of dates and times to see their work!
